North Kohala home ‘fully engulfed’ by fire Friday night

The Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Pu’u Mamo Drive in North Kohala near midnight on Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which fully engulfed a two-story single-family dwelling, according to a fire department report.

Members of the Hawai‘i Police Department were already present when firefighters arrived at 11:43 p.m. to battle the conflagration. The fire was brought under control within an hour, and a fire inspector on scene immediately began an inspection.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Loss is estimated at $534,625.
