Hawaiʻi Island police have identified two men wanted for questioning relative to a reported sexual assault investigation, one week after requesting assistance from the public.

The men – who have not been named by law enforcement – were captured on video surveillance exiting the Target department store on Maka‘ala Street in Hilo, in December 2023.

“Police were able to identify the men with overwhelming help from the public following a request for assistance on March 1,” according to a March 8 statement from the Hawai‘i Police Department.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 26 in the toy section at the Hilo Target and involved a 10-year-old girl. The suspects were captured on video surveillance exiting the store and leaving the parking lot in a white early 1990s Toyota 4Runner.

Detectives from the Area I Juvenile Aid Section are continuing the investigation.
