6:44 a.m. update on Jan. 11: Kīlauea Avenue in Hilo between Pauahi Street and Hōkū is now open in both directions.

Original post: Hawai‘i Island police are advising motorists to avoid Kilauea Avenue in Hilo between Pauahi Street and Hōkū Lane because of a traffic accident and use alternate routes.
