The Hawaiʻi County Public Works Traffic Division, in collaboration with Leleiwi Electric, will replace two wooden traffic signal utility poles on Waiānuenue Avenue in Hilo.

This essential infrastructure improvement project will occur on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8, from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. daily.

On Dec. 6, the replacement activity will be concentrated at the Hilo High School entrance driveway on Waiānuenue Avenue. On Dec. 8, the focus will shift to the Hilo Intermediate School entrance driveway. One-lane shifts will occur during the duration of the project.

The replacement activities will be carried out during the evening and early morning hours to minimize the impact on daily traffic. Adequate signage and traffic control measures will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zones.
