Hawaiʻi County Parks and Recreation has closed Kaʻūmana Cave County Park in Hilo because of a partial collapse of the cave structure.

According to a Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense message Saturday afternoon, the collapse appears to be in the area near the entrance to the cave. No injuries have been reported.

The cave will remain closed until further notice and after an assessment of its stability to determine safety for those visiting the site.
