No tsunami threat after 6.6 earthquake near California

Hawai’i County Civil Defense announced an earthquake off the Gulf of California with a magnitude of 6.6 did not spark a tsunami threat Sunday.

According to the alert, the earthquake occurred at 10:30 a.m. in the Sea of Cortez, but there was no threat to Hawai’i.
