People with Marketplace health insurance must file federal taxes by April 18
Hawai‘i consumers enrolled in 2022 Marketplace health insurance must file their federal taxes by April 18, 2023.
Most consumers received advanced premium tax credits based on their estimated income in 2022 to lower their insurance costs. Consumers must reconcile their estimated income with their actual income in 2022 by filing federal taxes.
Any difference between the advanced premium tax credits and actual tax credits may impact their refunds or taxes owed.
The Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i said consumers should do these three things:
- Get Your 1095A. You can do so either from the mail or log into your Marketplace account and print it.
- Check Your 1095A: Make sure the information on the 1095A is correct. If you find a mistake, call the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596.
- File Your Federal Taxes by April 18, 2023: Use the information on the 1095A to file your federal taxes. Your taxes may be adjusted if your advanced premium tax credits and actual credits differ.
If you need help with 1095A forms, The Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i is ready to help consumers. Call 808-536-4302, option 2. Important Note: The Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i does not assist with tax filings.
Established in 1950 with 10 offices statewide, the Legal Aid Society of Hawai‘i is a non-profit, public interest law firm dedicated to increasing access to justice for the state’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people.
