University of Hawaiʻi students offer free online coding classes for youth in the state
For the fourth year in a row, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa students will be providing another round of free coding classes to youth, but this time both in-person and virtual options will be available.
ICSpark is a computer science club at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa that provides free coding classes and mentorship to youth. The program is driven by a passionate team of talented computer science and engineering undergraduate students looking to give back to their community.
This year, ICSpark also will offer a free online or in-person 3-month introductory coding class for 6th to 12th grade students on how to create websites.
The classes will be held every Saturday from Feb. 4 to May 6, 2023. Sessions are held from 9 a.m. to noon. In-person classes will be at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. No coding experience is required.
Seats are limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration closes on Jan. 14, 2023. To register, go to: https://bit.ly/icspark.
ICSpark is part of Technology Outreach Hawaii (TORCH), a non-profit organization that aims to promote technology education, mentorship, collaboration and service across Hawaiʻi.
Although ICSpark has members who are University of Hawaiʻi students, the registered organization is independent of the university.
