Residents in a portion of Laupāhoehoe are being notified that their water will be shut off temporarily one day this week as crews work to perform a waterline replacement on the bridge going to Laupāhoehoe Point.

Water will be shut off between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13 along Laupāhoehoe Point Road, Jardine Road, Loyola Road and Stevens Road. Upon resumption of service, waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers might notice turbid and/or discolored water.

Customers also could notice trapped air in their plumbing, which will be released upon initially using water.

Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect property and facilities including but not limited to: disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices that depend on water pressure or supply for normal use and that could be harmed if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
