Due to damage caused by earthquakes on Mauna Loa’s flank on Oct. 14, the Pāhala Public & School Library is temporarily closed until repairs can be made.
During this temporary closure, patrons of the Pāhala libraries, located at 96-3150 Pikake Street, are encouraged to visit nearby Nāʻālehu Public Library for services.
For the duration of Pāhala’s temporary closure for repairs, Nāʻālehu Public Library, located at 95-5669 Mamalahoa Highway, has expanded public hours to:
- Monday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; 1 – 4 p.m.
- Tuesday: 12 – 3 p.m; 4 – 7 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; 1 – 4 p.m.
- Thursday: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; 1 – 4 p.m.
- Friday: 12 – 4 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: Closed
The Hawaiʻi State Public Library System digital doors are always open at librarieshawaii.org. With just a library card you can download ebooks, stream movies, learn a language, read The New York Times and more.
An announcement will be made when the Pāhala Public & School Library reopens.
