The county reports that a facility in West Hawaiʻi that closed earlier this month will be reopening this week.

The Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division announces that the West Hawai‘i Organics Facility, located at Pu‘uanahulu, will resume normal operations Thursday, July 28.

The facility, which is adjacent to the West Hawai‘i Sanitary Landfill, has been closed since July 23 because of a fire, which has been extinguished.
