Endangered Pāhoa Man Located in Good Health

Update: Big Island police report that 79-year-old James Devore, who was previously reported missing, was located Monday, June 6, out of state in good health. Police thank the public for its assistance with this matter.

Original story: Big Island police are asking the public for help with finding an elderly Pāhoa man who has severe medical conditions that require daily medication.

According to a media release from the Hawai‘i Police Department, 79-year-old James Devore was reported as a missing person. He was last seen at about noon May 26 on Pāhoa Village Road in Pāhoa. Devore is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 170 pounds, with white hair, a fair complexion and blue eyes.

He could be operating a 2018 blue Chevrolet Spark with Hawai‘i License plate number ZHB243.

Anyone who might have information about Devore’s whereabouts should contact the Hawai‘i Police Department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311.
