No injuries were reported after a Pāhoa home was destroyed in a structure fire late Wednesday night. This is the third fire crews have responded to in East Hawai‘i since Monday, May 8.
Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze at 7:24 p.m., located on the 15-000 block of Kahakai Boulevard. When crews arrived on scene, they found a 2,000-square-foot single-story structure fully involved with fire and smoke.
No rescue was needed as the house was unoccupied at the time. Fire officials say no other exposures were threatened.

The home had a for sale sign in the front yard and officials noted that power was still in service from Hawaiian Electric.
Flames were under control at 7:43 p.m. Firefighters turned the scene over to Hawai‘i Police Department following extinguishment and mop up.
This is the third fire Hawai‘i Fire Department has responded to in a week. Firefighters responded to a structure fire in Nā‘ālehu late Monday night where two single-family homes were on fire.
Officials say all incidents are under investigation, adding, the fires don’t appear to be connected.
