Kelis Garmon-Mercado

Big Island police are asking the public for help with finding a missing teen.

According to a police media release, 16-year-old Kelis Garmon-Mercado was reported as a runaway. She is described as Caucasian, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 317 pounds, with a large build, brown shoulder-length curly hair and brown eyes.

Garmon-Mercado was last seen at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, in the 1700 block of Kino‘ole Street in Hilo, wearing brown shorts, a brown shirt with a maroon hoodie wrapped around her waist and rubber slippers. She was also carrying a teal back pack.

Anyone with information about Garmon-Mercado’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311.
