The county Department of Water Supply will be conducting fire hydrant flow tests in two separate locations between 10 and 11 p.m. Tuesday, March 15.

The DWS is notifying water customers in several Hilo locations about an upcoming flow test. Those affected include water customers along Ka‘akepa Street between Highway 19 and La‘imi Street and Kula‘imano Road and Andrade Road, including Kula‘imano Elderly Housing and Kauhale Olu Apartments. This also includes customers on all side roads and lanes in the area.

The DWS is also notifying water customers in several areas in Kona about the upcoming flow test. Those affected include water customers along Hina Lani Street between Maiau Street and Kamanu Street and along Olowalu Street to Kamanu Street, including any side roads and lanes.

The affected areas might experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the tests, according to a county press release. Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.
