Police Ask For Public’s Help With Finding Missing Hilo Man

Big Island police are requesting the public’s assistance with locating 58-year-old Gary Darnell of Hilo, who was reported missing.

Darnell was last seen about 7 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, on Kalaniana’ole Avenue in Hilo. He is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 200 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information about Darnell’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department’s nonemergency line at 808-935-3311 or contact Officer Onana Masaoka at [email protected].

Police also reported Tuesday that two East Hawai‘i teens who were previously reported as runaways were located Jan. 13 in Hilo after each turned themselves in to authorities. Both teens were found in good health.

Sixteen-year-old Precious Anderson turned herself in at 10:20 a.m., while 14-year-old Kayzlyn Grammer turned herself in at 11:10 a.m.
