Work at the scale facility in Hilo at the end of this week could cause some inconvenience for users.

The county Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division says its Hilo scale will be calibrated on Friday, Dec. 24. All facility users should expect delays or make alternate plans for disposal.

The contractor will be on site at 8 a.m. Work will happen intermittently and is scheduled to be complete by noon the same day.

The department thanks everyone for doing their part in responsibly disposing of solid waste and green waste and ensuring that the Big Island continues to be a clean and safe place.
