Periods of freezing rain are forecast over the summits of Maunakea and Mauna Loa this morning, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory earlier this morning.

The advisory remains in effect until noon today, Dec. 19.

A winter weather advisory means periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
