Albizia Tree Removal to Close Big Island Park

Hawai´i County has announced that Kolekole Gulch Park in South Hilo will be closed early next week.

The closures will begin Monday, April 19, and last through Wednesday, April 21. The purpose of the closure is the removal of three dead Albizia trees.

The park will reopen on Thursday, April 22, according to a county press release.

“The removal of these trees is necessary to ensure the safety of park patrons and staff as well as to maintain the integrity of the streambank and park access road,” the release continued.
