Big Island Surf Forecast

Hilo side: Surf heights are expected to be knee/waist high trade swell today with tummy/chest high sets at the best breaks open to the swell.

Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be knee/thigh high.

South: Wave heights are expected to be knee/thigh high.

All shores should remain well below advisory level today. A new south-southwest swell is expected this weekend. This swell should begin to fill in Friday, peak Saturday afternoon around waist/shoulder high and hold through Sunday into Monday morning. Another south-southwest is forecast for the 20th.

Moderate trade swell for the east side begins to ease as winds drop off.

Models are indicating a small northwest swell for Sunday into Monday.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
