Australia’s Black Arm Band at Kahilu Theatre

One of Australia’s leading performance art companies, Black Arm Band, will perform their musical theater piece dirtsong at the Kahilu Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.

Black Arm Band is internationally acclaimed for its distinctive music theater performances, powerful visual imagery, and the celebration of indigenous music, culture, and language.

Dirtsong is a musical journey through Australia’s cultural heartland. The performance is set against a backdrop of moving imagery and text inspired by the words of Alexis Wright and features songs performed in thirteen different Aboriginal languages.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. and there will be beverages and snacks available for sale at the bar.

The Voyager Exhibit will also be on display in the Kahilu Theatre galleries.

Tickets are $68, $48, $38, $20 and are available for purchase online, by calling (808) 885-6868, or at the Kahilu Theatre Box Office at 67-1186 Lindsey Road, Kamuela, HI 96743, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Black Arm Band will also perform dirtsong at UH Hilo on Friday, Jan. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Performing Arts Center. Tickets for the Hilo performance are available at the UH Hilo Box Office at (808) 932-7490 or online.
