Theft Suspect Surrenders to Hawai‘i Police

Thanks to tips from the public, Hawaiʻi Island police have identified a woman whose image was captured on video surveillance in connection with a theft investigation.

On the afternoon of Nov. 19, a woman left a salon on the 100 block of East Puainako Street in Hilo without paying for services.

After police published a surveillance photo, the public provided tips and police were able to identify her as 38-year-old Stephanie Paulo of Pāhoa.

At 12:05 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 6, South Hilo Patrol officers arrested Paulo after she turned herself in at the South Hilo police station.

She was charged with fourth-degree theft, given a court date on Jan. 3 and released on her own recognizance.

The HPD thanks the public for their assistance.
