Roadway improvements along Waianuenue Avenue in Hilo will continue next week as part of improvement efforts being conducted between Carvalho Park and the makai intersection of Rainbow Drive.

Beginning Monday, April 25, striping work will begin and run on a Monday through Friday schedule from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A one-way section of Rainbow Drive will be closed permanently to provide safer pedestrian and wheelchair access to cross the bridge.

The project also includes the widening of the existing T-intersection for bus and vehicular access to Rainbow Drive.

As work in the area continues, the County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works advises motorists to drive with caution as heavy vehicles and machinery are at work.
