Big Island Press Club to Feature Jim Dooley at Lunch
Jim Dooley will be the featured guest speaker at a Big Island Press Club luncheon on April 22.
Dooley is the author of “Sunny Skies, Shady Characters: Cop, Killers and Corruption in the Aloha State.”
A “take-no-prisoners” kind of journalist, Dooley is a longtime investigative reporter whose efforts and work led to the indictment of former Honolulu Mayor Frank Fasi on bribery charges. He has focused his career on digging deep into Hawai’i organized crime and yakuza, government contracting fraud, Teamsters Union movie driver violence, Bishop Estate/Kamehameha Schools, police corruption, and secret land ownership huis in Hawai’i whose members included political, judicial, and criminal syndicate figures.
Dooley’s latest saga features Big Island connections.
The lunch will be held at Restaurant Kenichi, located on Kilauea Avenue in Hilo.
Tickets are $20 for BIPC members and $25 for non-members, and can be purchased online. The buffet lunch includes chicken katsu, furikake panko salmon, yakisoba, salad, vegetables, and a beverage.
