UPDATE: Highway 190 Opens, HFD Still Responding to Brush Fire

Highway 190 has reopened between mile marker 6, the Old Saddle Road Junction, and Waikoloa Road.

The area was closed Sunday morning as result of a brush fire burning between mile markers 8 and 9 along Highway 190.

The Hawai’i Police Department notes that Hawai’i County Fire Department crews remain in the area.

A brush fire burning within the 8 and 9 mile markers of Highway 190 has caused a temporary road closure.

Highway 190 is currently closed between the 6 mile marker, or Old Saddle Road Junction, and Waikoloa Road.

Hawai’i County Fire Department crews are on scene responding to the fire.

Traffic is being detoured through Old Saddle Road or Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
