During the month of April, several Community Emergency Response Team, known as CERT, training sessions will take place in Waimea.

Community members are invited to attend the training sessions free of charge to not only learn skills that will help the community, but also your family during emergencies.

People who take part in the CERT program learn how to be prepared in emergency situations. CERT members are able to respond and give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site.

CERT members also assist with non-emergency projects that may improve the safety of the community.

The CERT Training will take place on Saturdays in April, beginning on April 9 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea, as well as April 16, 23, and 30 at Waimea Elementary School. Each session will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To register for the free training sessions, contact Patti Pinto by calling 935-0031 or e-mail [email protected].
