3.4M Earthquake Shakes Near Volcano

Did you feel it? A 3.4 magnitude earthquake was registered by the United States Geological Survey Tuesday morning.

At 8:04 a.m., the earthquake shook about four miles southwest from Volcano at a depth of 1.5 miles.

The earthquake was situated 24 miles southwest of Hawaiian Paradise Park, 27 miles south-southwest of Hilo, 50 miles east-southeast of Kailua-Kona, and 213 miles southeast of Honolulu.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory did not release any warnings or information in association with the quake.

Tuesday morning’s 3.4 magnitude quake was followed by a 1.9 magnitude in the same area about 15 minutes later.
