TRAFFIC ALERT: High Surf Closes Bayfront Highway

Bayfront Highway is currently closed as a result of high surf.

According to Hawai’i County Civil Defense, Bayfront Highway has been shut down between Pauahi Street and Waianuenue Avenue.

A High Surf Warning was issued Friday morning for north facing shores on the Big Island and across the state through 6 p.m. Saturday.

Surf is expected to reach between 20 to 30 feet.

There is no estimated reopening time for the highway.
