Police Arrest Three Following Gambling Sting

badge 123Nine island-wide search warrants executed on Tuesday resulted in the recovery of 124 gambling machines and $150,000 in cash.

The Hawai’i Police Department, Homeland Security, the Honolulu Police Department, and investigators from the Prosecutor’s Office aided in the execution of the warrants.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of gambling since the incident. Thirty-year-old Justin D. Alpert of Kailua-Kona, 22-year-old Brenda K. Reynolds of Kailua-Kona, and 36-year-old Rodney K. Worley of Honoka’a were released following their arrests pending further investigation.

Police on Tuesday said that one of the establishments was located on Lanikaula Street in Hilo. That location has since been corrected to Kawailani Street.

In total, seven establishments and two homes had warrants executed at about 1 p.m. Tuesday. The locations were all connected to illegal gambling operations, according to police.
