Tiffany Edwards Hunt has been charged with voter fraud, according to the office of the Hawai’i County Prosecuting Attorney.

Edwards Hunt is a blogger and a 2014 County Council District 5 candidate, who is said to have violated Section 19-3.5, Hawai’i Revised Statutes.

Edwards Hunt was accused during her race for County Council of using her husband’s surf shop address in Pahoa instead of her home address in Hawaiian Acres over a five-year period. The two addresses were located in different districts, allowing her the potential to vote in a district race that was not the one she lived in.

According to the Prosecuting Attorney’s office, the charge is alleged to have occurred between Aug. 7, 2012 and Nov. 5, 2012, two years before she ran unsuccessfully for public office.

Daniel Paleka defeated Edwards Hunt in the 2014 general election.

Edwards Hunt’s charge is a class C felony, which could be punishable with up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
