huntingPig and goat hunting is scheduled to take place over the weekend at Pohakuloa Training Area.

On Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, Army officials will open the Keamuku Maneuver Area for bow hunting of pigs and goats from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Hunters are required to check in and check out at one of the new Army check-in stations, located in the following areas:

  • Old Saddle Road Gate, across from the Mauna Kea State Park entrance.
  • Mile marker 49.5 gate on Daniel K. Inouye Highway, located about a half-mile from Mamalahoa Highway.
  • Gate 10, near mile marker 53 on Old Saddle Road, one mile from Mamalahoa Highway.

All hunters must check out by 6 p.m. each day.

Due to recent fires, hunters should review access information at check-in stations. Some entry points may be unavailable due to the fire.

Access to KMA is by foot only, and hunters should park in designated parking areas.
