Concrete grinders will be moved through Hilo roadways on several days next week.

The County of Hawai’i Department of Public Works says the work will be conducted between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 16, 17, and 18 as part of the Kapi’olani Street Extension project.

Contractor Isemoto Contracting Co., Ltd. will transport the 80-foot long concrete grinders from Jas W Glover’s base yard on Leilani Street to the project site using two routes.

The first route will begin at Jas W. Glover on Leilani Street and travel left onto Kanoelehua Avenue, right onto East Lanikaula Street, and straight up to the intersection of Kapi’olani Street and West Lanikaula Street, then right into the job site.

Route two will continue from the Kapi’olani Street and West Lanikaula Street intersection uphill on West Lanikaula, which transitions to Kumukoa Street, then to the Mohouli Street and Kumukoa Street intersection, right onto Mohouli Street, and down to the intersection of Kapi’olani Street and Mohouli Street, and right into the job site.

Motorists driving along these routes during the scheduled times should drive with caution and expect delays. Police escorts will block the entire roadway to allow for the large transport truck to make the necessary turns.
