Final Farewells to Late Senator Gilbert Kahele

A final tribute will be paid to the late Senator Gilbert Kahele as a motorcade will pass by the State Capitol on Beretania Street on Oahu next Tuesday morning.

The motorcade is schedule to occur at 9 a.m. and will continue on to the Hickam Air Force Base, where the late Senator will be flown to Hilo for a memorial service.

On Monday, Feb. 8, a celebration of life for Sen. Kahele will be held at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. The 5 p.m. celebration will be followed by a private burial at sea at Kapua Bay.

Sen. Kahele passed away on Tuesday at 7:55 a.m. while at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. He was 73 years old.
