State Senate to Host Public Memorial for the Late Senator Kahele

The Hawai’i State Senate is opening its Senate Chambers on Oahu on both Wednesday and Thursday to members of the public who would like to express their sympathies to the family of the late Senator Gilbert Kahele.

On Wednesday, the memorial will be open after the session, beginning at about 12:30 p.m. and running until 5 p.m. On Thursday, the Chambers will open for the public memorial from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A condolence book will be made available to sign within the Senate Chambers and will be shared with the Kahele family.

Senator Kahele passed away Tuesday morning. He served portions of East Hawai’i in the Senate since 2011.

A Big Island memorial has not been announced.
