The Department of Water Supply plans to turn off water temporarily along Kapiolani Street between Lanikaula Street and Kawili Street in Hilo on Friday, Jan. 22 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

DWS crews will be conducting waterline work for the Kapiolani Street Extension Project.

Once water resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned and customers in the area may notice turbid or discolored water.

Air trapped in plumbing may also be noticed, but will be released as water is used.

Customers in the area should take necessary precautions to protect their property and facilities, including disabling electric power to pumps and other devices that are dependent on water pressure or supply.
