Hawai’i Electric Light will resume construction along Highway 19 next week. The work will improve system reliability by upgrading utility infrastructure and includes the removal and installation of poles and upgrading transmission and distribution lines, as well as equipment.

Work between the 24 mile marker in Papa’aloa and the 27 mile marker in Laupahoehoe will begin on Jan. 18 and run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Hawai’i Electric Light officials say that work is expected to be completed by the end of February, pending weather conditions.

If possible, motorists should use alternate routes.
