Sweet Leaf Tea Recalled Due to Glass Fragments
A national recall of Sweet Leaf Tea in 16-ounce glass bottles was announced on Thursday by The Sweet Leaf Tea Company.
The United States Food and Drug Administration says the recall was voluntary and “out of an abundance of caution because of the possible presence of glass fragments.”
Glass breakage that occurred during the filling process is the culprit of the potential fragments.
Four complaints of glass found in the product have been noted. It is not clear whether or not any of those complaints came from individuals in Hawai’i.
Specific codes of six types of 16-ounce glass bottles distributed between Feb. 27 and Dec. 6 are on the recall list.

Recalled products are being removed from store shelves. Consumers who have any glass products affected by the recall should not drink the product, and should contact Sweet Leaf’s toll-free number 1-877-832-5323 Monday through Friday 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hawai’i time for a replacement product. Individuals can also return their affect products to the store for a refund.
