An armed break-in suspect has been charged with several offenses following an incident Sunday afternoon at a home in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision.

Ka’u District officers responded to a report of a man with a knife at the home, located on the 92-1600 block of Aloha Boulevard, at 4 p.m.

After arriving, officers learned that a man reportedly broke into the house and threatened a 73-year-old woman and a 73-year-old man with a knife and a rock.

The suspect removed keys, injured the male victim during a struggle for the keys, and attempted to steal their car. Following the struggle, the suspect fled from the area on foot as police were arriving.
