Volcano Listed Among ‘Best Ranked Cities to Stay’

Travel search website trivago recently released its “2016 U.S. Best Ranked Cities to Stay” rating, ranking one Big Island location in the top five.

The website gathered data through a combination of trivago’s “proprietary” rating index, called tRI, and verified user reviews aggregated from 31 different booking sites. More than 200 million user ratings were used from hotel, booking, and review sites across the internet.

With 100 percent representing a perfect score, trivago considered cities with over 50 hotels and a minimum average of 140 user ratings per hotel.

Volcano was the fourth top location with an 84.24 percent rating.

The Big Island spot is one of three locations throughout the state. Lahaina and Kihei on Maui also made the list at number seven and number 34, respectively.
