The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Big Island through late Thursday as moisture is expected to move over the Big Island.
Rain is expected to impact the island Wednesday night and into Thursday.
NWS reports that the moisture is approaching from the east and southeast.
Heavy rainfall is expected over the Ka’u, Puna, and Hilo districts.
As the moisture interacts with the terrain, NWS says there is potential that locally heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
