Peter J. Kema Sr. has been released from Hawai’i Police Department custody following an arrest Tuesday on suspicion of prohibited ownership of a firearm, prohibited ownership of ammunition, altering a serial number of a firearm, second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, and fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug.

According to police, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue to investigate the possible drug and firearms charges against Kema and 45-year-old Jaylin M. Kema, his wife.

The investigation spawned from items found at their Ainaloa home during the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday.

A second-degree theft charge against Jaylin Kema, in connection with a Welfare Fraud investigation, was handed down on Thursday. She appeared in court Friday on that charge.
