Hilo Beaches Close for Debris Clean-Up

Six Hilo beach parks are closed Thursday as crews work to clean up debris caused by high tides and flooding Wednesday.

Richardson’s Beach Park, Leleiwi Beach Park, Kealoha Beach Park, Carlsmith Beach Park, Onekahakaha Beach Park, and Coconut Island are all among those closed.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for the Kona Coast from 6 p.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Friday.

Surf heights are anticipated to build between eight to 12 feet Thursday evening.
