Body Located in Ravine ID’d as Missing Hilo Man
The Hawai’i Police Department reports that the decomposing body located in a ravine Friday is that of missing 93-year-old Masaru Miyamoto of Hilo.
Police located the body behind a Kahema Street home in Hilo as they were searching for a missing Hilo couple.
The body was identified through fingerprints late Monday.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday morning determined that the man died from injuries consistent with an accidental fall.
Miyamoto and Tami Miyamoto, 88, were reported missing on Friday after they hadn’t been seen since the previous Sunday, Oct. 11.
Tami Miyamoto was located in thick vegetation in the surrounding area. She is at the Hilo Medical Center in good condition.
