Man Sought on Warrants Turns Himself in

A 35-year-old man wanted on several warrants has been arrested by the Hawai’i Police Department.

HPD says George Kahakua Jr. turned himself in at the Hilo police station on Monday. He was charged with four counts of contempt of court and his bail was set at $1,450.

Kahakua was also arrested in connection to a vehicle break-in on Sept. 21 in Hilo.

According to police, a 28-year-old man reported that his car was broken into while it was parked off Kilauea Avenue, near Aupuni Street.

The victim’s credit card was stolen and used at a Makaala Street store. An HPD investigation led to Kahakua’s identity.

On Tuesday at 3 p.m., Kahakua was charged with theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, and three counts of ID theft.

Kahakua’s bail was set at $21,000.
