Police Seek Person of Interest in Kona Robbery

A 27-year-old Kealakekua man is wanted by the Hawai’i Police Department for questioning in connection with a robbery that took place in Kailua-Kona on Sept. 10.

According to HPD, Alihilani Joshua Stringert allegedly took the purse of a 54-year-old Captain Cook woman as she was about to enter a business establishment on the 74-5000 block of Kaiwi Street in Kailua-Kona just before 2 p.m.

Police say the man fled in a charcoal gray Nissan Altima 4-door sedan.

Stringert was identified by authorities as a person of interest. He is described as 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds. He also has brown eyes, short brown hair, and tattoos on his arms.

Anyone with information on Stringert’s whereabouts should call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Carrie Akina directly at 326-4646, extension 277 or by e-mail at carrie.akina@hawaiicounty.gov.
