The Hawai’i Police Department has issued a missing persons advisory for Jamie Salis, the 55-year-old Hāwī man who went missing Wednesday night when free diving off Old Coast Guard Road on the North Kohala Coast.

United States Coast Guard and Hawai’i County Fire Department crews searched for Salis before suspending their search Saturday.

Salis has been described by police as 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds. He has brown eyes and shoulder-length balding black hair.

HPD officials say the issuance of an advisory for someone whose body was not located is standard once the search is called off. The captain in charge of the case was not immediately available.
