Information from an Aug. 6 robbery on Keawe Street, just south of Mamo Street, continues to be sought by the Hawai’i Police Department.

Police say that a 33-year-old man reported that men had approached him from behind and began to punch him at about 6:30 p.m.

In the process of the assault, the suspects stole the victim’s wallet and cell phone and attempted to take his backpack. The attackers then fled.

According to HPD, the victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center and later flown to an Oahu hospital, where he was treated for serious facial injuries.

A description of the attackers from police indicates that the suspects were both male with dark complexions. One of the attackers was about 5-foot-6 and the other was about 6-feet tall. Both have been described as having a stocky build.
