A group preparing to host a shoreline clean-up event, called “Get the Drift and Bag It” on Saturday, Sept. 19, is seeking volunteers.

The Friends of Lili’uokalai Gardens is providing support to the Rotary Club of Hilo and their Interact Club in efforts to clean up the area between Hilo Bay Café to the Hilo Naniloa Hotel, including Moku Ola. The area extends from Lihiwai Street throughout portions of Banyan Drive.

Those interested in volunteering their time for the clean-up event should meet Harvey Tajiri near the Isles parking lot behind Hilo Bay Café at 7:30 a.m.

Prior to the clean-up, a brief orientation will be held on safety and how to record the amount and type of trash gathered.
