Hawai’i County officials report Leilani Street between Manono Street and Hīnano Street will be closed for construction activities between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Tue., Sept. 8 through Friday, Sept.11.

Only local traffic and pedestrians will be allowed access.

Barett Otani, public spokesman for the Hawai’i County Department of Public Works, said the purpose of the closure is to install an underground drainage structure, weather and construction conditions permitting.  The closure is necessary to complete the installation in a timely manner and for the safety of the traveling public.

Special off-duty police officers will be posted at the Manono Street and Hīnano Street intersections with Leilani Street to redirect traffic.
