An early Wednesday vehicle crash in Ocean View involving a sports-utility vehicle and a school bus did not lead to any injuries, according to the Hawai’i Police Department.

Twelve children between the ages of 13 and 17 were on board the bus, operated by a 50-year-old driver. The driver of the SUV reportedly ran a stop sign.

Police responded to a 6:42 a.m. call where officers from Ka’u determined that the bus was traveling on Princess Ka’iulani Boulevard when an SUV driven by a 42-year-old man, traveling west on Lehua Parkway broadsided the bus. Police say the vehicle was driven by a 42-year-old man.

The incident has been classified as a traffic accident. Both vehicles sustained substantial damage.
